Using your own Google AI key (BYO key)

You can connect your own Google AI (Gemini) API key instead of using the EspressoDesk AI allowance.

How it works:

  1. Go to Settings -> AI and open "Your own AI key".
  2. Paste an API key created in Google AI Studio and save it. Only a short hint of the key is ever shown again; the key itself is encrypted and only used by our backend.
  3. From that moment all AI features in your workspace (chatbot, reply drafting, tone, summaries, knowledge base help) run on your key.

What changes:

  • Requests made with your own key do NOT count against your monthly EspressoDesk AI allowance, so you do not need an AI Power Pack.
  • You pay Google directly for usage. If your key runs out of credit or is revoked, AI features stop until you fix the key or remove it and buy an AI pack.
  • Remove the key at any time from the same card; the workspace then falls back to the EspressoDesk allowance.
