Verifying your custom domain with CNAME and TXT
Updated 2026-08-14
A custom domain lets your portal live at help.yourcompany.com instead of the default address. Verification proves the domain is yours before we serve traffic for it.
Steps:
- In Settings > Domain, enter the hostname you want to use.
- EspressoDesk shows two records: a CNAME that points the hostname at our edge, and a TXT record with a one-time verification value.
- Add both records at your DNS provider exactly as shown, with no trailing dot problems and no proxying enabled while you verify.
- Press Verify. DNS changes usually propagate in a few minutes, sometimes up to an hour, and the panel tells you which record is still missing.
After verification the certificate is issued automatically and the portal answers over HTTPS. Keep both records in place: if the CNAME is removed the portal stops resolving, and if the TXT record disappears a later re-verification will fail.
